Big Homecoming Win!
This was a great win for the program and we really appreciate all the alumni that were in attendance. It was great to see so many of our former players back for the game cheering on the Beavers. We also had a large number of recruits on campus for the game and we received a lot of positive feedback from them and their parents.
This week we shift our focus towards Luther College. They have one of the best backs in the league and will provide us a great test on the road defensively. On the other side of the ball they play very aggressive and will give us some looks that we have not seen yet this year. We look forward to the challenge and hope to build on this past week’s victory.

Homecoming
Homecoming
We are excited to be home this week and look forward to playing in front of a great homecoming crowd. Having all the alumni back on campus is always an exciting time at BVU and their support is greatly appreciated. We have had a rough past couple weeks, but have shown improvements offensively and defensively, and look to put it all together this weekend.
Offensively our OL has been coming together as a unit and playing more physical. We ran the ball a lot more effectively against Central and we hope that we continue to move the chains on the ground and pop a couple long runs this week. In the pass game Chris Hawkins has shown great improvements as our season has progressed, and we look for him to have big game this week. Our WR’s had one of their best weeks of practice and we are looking for big plays out of them this week as well.
Defensively this week we have worked on trying to eliminating big plays which have hurt us so far this season and creating more turnovers. We feel if we play fast and physical we can create a few more fumbles and get our hands on more balls in the secondary. On the DL we want to put more pressure on the QB to create a few more sacks and hurries. Our back seven spent a lot of time this week on proper pass drops and flying to the football. If we can eliminate the big plays this week and create more turnovers we feel the defense can play a huge part in Saturday’s game. The special teams have been solid up to this point, but we are looking for more big plays out of our return teams to give our offense better starting positions.
This week we also have around 60 recruits and their families up for a Game Day Visit. It will be a great day to show off our campus, student life, and all of our supportive alumni. On these visits recruits get to meet our coaching staff, tour campus, eat lunch, and then attend the game. We look forward to having all of them enjoy a great afternoon on the lake at BVU. GO BEAVERS!!!

Family Weekend!
This week is our annual family
weekend at BVU. We are excited to have
our players’ families in town for a double header with the Varsity playing Coe
on Saturday and our JV team playing ICCC on Sunday.
Coe will provide a great test for
our football team. They have been one of
the best programs in the IIAC over the past five years and have another great
team this year. We are looking to
rebound after a tough loss last week on the road. We have had an outstanding week of preparation
and are ready to get back on the game field to compete. We hope to see you all out at J. Leslie
Rollins Stadium for another BVU home football game. GO BEAVERS!!!

Beaver JV records second win!
Our JV team took on Dordt College
out of Sioux Center, IA and posted their second victory of the 2007 season with
a 27 -17 win. Offensively quarterbacks
Brandon Phelan and Matt Peary carried the bulk of the running load rushing for
76 and 42 yards respectively, and Phelan rushed for one touchdown. Wide Receiver Dean Mosher had his best outing
of the season hauling in 3 catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Moore also caught a touchdown pass on
fourth down with 11 seconds left in the first half. Our offensive line did a great job protecting
our QB’s in the pocket and opening up some nice lanes in our running game.
Defensively we played a solid game
not allowing any second half points. Cornerback
Kenneth Nichols led the team with 8 tackles and DE Kyle Sloss provided pressure
on the quarter back all game and recorded a sack in fourth quarter. After a few first half miscues our defense came
together in the second half and did a much better job of controlling the line
of scrimmage and tackling ball carriers.

Bethel Post Game Report
Great Opening Weekend!!!
The Varsity and JV teams started off our season with two
great wins for the program. On Saturday
our guys came ready to play, and I feel they fought hard all day long. We had to overcome adversity with a few early
turnovers, but everyone stuck together and we pulled through for the win. It was a great way to kick off the 2007 season
against a great opponent.
On Sunday our JV team took the field against Iowa Central
Community College. They also played
extremely hard from opening kickoff to the final buzzer. We moved ball well offensively scoring 47
points and the defense pitched a shutout.
Our younger guys got a chance to show what they can do in a game setting
and perform under pressure.
With no game this Saturday to prepare for this weekend, we
are focusing on fixing mistakes made in week one and healing up bumps and
bruises. Offensively we are working on
being more physical up front, and cleaning up our route running. Defensively the focus is on finishing drills,
and playing at a high tempo.
Our coaching staff was able to attend a bunch of area high school
games last Friday night and was impressed with the talent level in the area. We also had a Game Day Visit for prospects
this past weekend and had a great group of young men and their families in attendance. We have three more Game Day Visits and are
excited to get many more talented prospects on campus. Those dates are:
Sept. 22nd – vs. Coe (Family Weekend)
Oct. 6th – vs. Cornell (Homecoming)
Nov. 3rd – vs. Dubuque (Senior Day)

Pre Game Tailgate
Pre-Game Tailgate
Our senior parents wanted me to remind all the Beaver fans
to join them for a pre-game tailgate in Circle Park (just south of the J.
Leslie Rollins Stadium). It’s a great way to kick off the season and everyone
is welcome to join in on the festivities.
If you are interested in purchasing your old game jersey,
contact Coach Kruse at krusej@bvu.edu or
#712-749-2144. They are $35 for one or
$60 for both.

Week One
Camp Notes
We had a great camp even though the weather didn’t always
cooperate. Our guys battled though the
hot and muggy days, along with the wet and windy practices. The annual scrimmage with Iowa Central was
cancelled due to thunderstorms, but we were able to have a situational
scrimmage this past Saturday. I proud of
the way our guys adapted to the ever changing schedule, and how they came ready
to work and have fun each and every practice.
We open up the season at home against Bethel University this
Saturday. Our guys are extremely excited
to kick off the season with a great opponent and compete against someone other
than a teammate. We have a great
returning nucleus of seniors and starters back from last year’s squad, and have
added a talented bunch of newcomers.
Our football family is proud to have two distinguished
alumni, Scott Bailey and Alvin Molitor inducted into the BVU Hall of Fame this
weekend. This will make for a total of
48 former players in the BVU Hall of Fame.
Along with a new season the Beavers will have a new uniform. The gold has been brought back into the
uniforms and the helmet logo has been revamped.
We are excited to kick off the new season and look forward to seeing all
of our great fans at the game. GO
BEAVERS!!!
