Lady Beaver's Tennis Team Finish Strong at IIAC Individual

The Beaver's tennis finished out there season in Cedar Rapids this past weekend at the IIAC Individual Conference Tournament. The ladies each played some "very respectful" tennis matches. Katie Anliker had a nice run in the tournament finishing a solid fourth place finish from a 32 player draw. Jen Flint won her first round and played a tough second match before losing in a tiebreaker. Team Captain, Jamie Anliker won an exciting first round match in a 3rd set supertiebreaker. Promising freshman, Megan Anderson played her usual solid play to outlast her first round opponent. Nicole Hansen,  who has been bothered by a strained knee, played a great doubles match with partner Jen. Anna Lafontant played a solid first round singles match. Overall, the ladies improved their match play throughout the season. The experience we had as team was fun and positive and will only get better as we continue to grow.

The Beavers head for Cedar Rapids this weekend for the IIAC Individual Conference Tournament. We are looking forward to the challenge and the new format. The tournament will be flighted which will make the field a more compatible playing level. We have a great chance to pick up some wins as our team have been competing  much better overall. Katie Anliker has been playing very solid tennis with a lot of close scores and matches that could go either way. She always gives 100%  and is very capable at any match. Nicole Hansen has improved her overall game and has boosted our lineup since hurting her knee weeks back.Nicole plays with a lot of heart and emotion to bring out her best. Jen Flint, who has some nice singles wins this season, has improved her game and is a very solid doubles player. Jen has the spirit to fight for each point. Captain Jamie Anliker, who has stepped up in position and level of play, has the mental toughness and tenacity to will out her opponent. Promising freshman Megan Anderson, who leads the team in singles wins, has been a solid performer who will grind out her match through heart and determination. Anna LaFontant has been improving her consistency overall and is capable of getting her first win this weekend. Anna has worked hard to build on her strengths.

Lady Beavers Look Forward to the weekend ahead!

The Lady Beavers Tennis Team will travel to Waverly this weekend to play Wartburg and University of Dubuque in a dual match. The Beavers returned last weekend from Dubuque and Cedar Rapids in what proved to be a promising road trip. Our team showed a lot of poise as we had to battle with only 5 players to try to win  a match, as Nicole Hansen injured her knee last Friday in our first match vs. Loras. We competed well for going into our matches being 2 positions down. Though we have not won our first match as of yet we have shown much promise in the way we have competed. Jennifer Flint recorded 3 match wins, 2 in singles play and 1 in doubles with Megan Anderson, and has shown steady improvement with each match. Promising freshman, Megan Anderson also recorder 2 singles match wins and 1 doubles vs. Coe College. Captain Jamie Anliker and sister Katie Anliker recorded their first doubles play and have shown much improvement with each match play. Anna Lafontant has improved also on her match play. Nicole Hansen will be returning to our lineup this weekend to give us a spark.
