Big win for the Beavers!

The beavers had two big conference wins vs. Cornell College and Simpson College.  As of late we have been playing really well and after a conference win over a good Cornell team we went into the weekend prior to our conference match vs. Simpson and first played UW-River Falls falling 3-0 then facing Wartburg and falling 2-3.  We improved a ton from game to game on the weekend and when it came to Saturday I felt like we were really playing at the top of our game.  We defeated Simpson in 4 games and Webster College in 3 games.  Then we had a difficult task of turning around and playing Simpson right away again in a conference match.  We were fortunate to have a home match and defeated the Storm in 4 games.  We are looking forward to a really big weekend in Minnesota where we play 4 nationally ranked opponents.  St. Thomas, Concordia (MN), St. Ben's, and Carleton.  GO BEAVERS!

Freshmen Enjoying College Baseball

The importance of fall practice is multifaceted.  Obviously, we use the time we have to introduce philosophy, teach mechanics, and to evaluate talent.  However, for our incoming freshmen, it is a valuable time to get introduced to the returning players on the roster and to begin to find their niche within the university and to build friendships with their teammates.  Research shows that impressions made over the first few weeks of school are a good indication of overall happiness.  I believe our team chemistry begins with the leadership of our seniors, it is important for them to make the first year players feel like part of the group.

The final day of the Series will be played later this week.  With games tied at 1-1, the Series Champion will now have to win two of three games.
