Favorite Time of the Year

This is my favorite time of the year. I am excited about a lot of things right now. Let me tell you what I am excited about. 1.) Practice starts in 3 weeks. The guys have been working hard with their weight lifting and conditioning. This team gets along so well. They have a fun personality, and I enjoy every single one of my players. I love it when they come to the office. 2.) The Cubs. How about those Cubs. They are 3 1/2 games ahead of Milwaukee with a week to play. THis would be a major meltdown if they don't make the playoffs, but I think they will, and I really believe they have a type of team that can maybe win a series or two in the playoffs. I know they are the Cubs, and nothing happens good to the Cubs, but maybe this is their year. I love Lou Pinella, he never gets excited, just one game at a time. I like that attitude. The last time the Cubs made the post season, the Beavers played in the Sweet 16. I love those thoughts. 3.) My daughter is now a freshman in high school, and she is involved in volleyball. Her team is 15-3, and ranked in the Top 15 in the State. Her team gets along very well, and playing volleyball on the high school stage has been educational for her, at the same time a lot of fun. It really has been very enjoyable for both my wife and I. 4.) My son is playing 7th grade football. If you are ever down in the dumps and want to laugh and put a smile on your face, go to a junior high football game. My son is 5'4", 93 lbs, and is playing right guard. Are you kidding me? He is just a skinny little man, but he loves it. He says he really enjoys hitting people at right guard. He also plays outside line backer. You can not be deceived, he does not look anything like Lawrence Taylor, but he believe one day he will, and that is really what it is all about. Just keep improving and enjoy the whole deal. 5.) I really do enjoy coming to work everyday. We have a great group of players and we are recruiting some equally quality young men, who want to make a difference. That is all we want our players to do. Just go out try to make a difference, and lets see where that takes us. Hopefully it will take us to a special season. The special people on this team have a great chance to make this a really fantastic year. Go Beavers! Coach VH
