Barta pitches 6-inning no-hitter in Game 1 of World Series
Senior Michael Barta (Carroll Kuemper H.S.) pitched six-innings of
no-hit baseball, and Mark Blum (Fr. Harlan) pitched a hitless 7th
inning to give their team a 4-0 win in Game 1 of the BV Fall World
Series. The BV Mets took a 1-0 series lead behind a strong pitching
performance, solid defense, and timely hitting from Jeff Weisenborn
(Jr. Carroll), Adam Hardie (Sr. Iowa Valley), and Nathan Halupnick
(Jr.North Tama H.S.).
The fall season has been a great one for Buena Vista pitching, the staff has compiled a 2.47 ERA over 60 innings pitched. Barta has yet to give up a run in 12 innings of
work this fall. First-Team All-Conference pitcher Ryan Dupic (Sr. Emmetsburg) gave up his first hit and only his second baserunner in Game 1 of the World Series on Monday. Justin List (Sr. Granville Spalding), Christian Dekker (Fr. Urbandale), and Mark Blum have yet to give up a run in fall scrimmages.
