Barta pitches 6-inning no-hitter in Game 1 of World Series

Senior Michael Barta (Carroll Kuemper H.S.) pitched six-innings of no-hit baseball, and Mark Blum (Fr. Harlan) pitched a hitless 7th inning to give their team a 4-0 win in Game 1 of the BV Fall World Series.  The BV Mets took a 1-0 series lead behind a strong pitching performance, solid defense, and timely hitting from Jeff Weisenborn (Jr. Carroll), Adam Hardie (Sr. Iowa Valley), and Nathan Halupnick (Jr.North Tama H.S.).

The fall season has been a great one for Buena Vista pitching, the staff has compiled a 2.47 ERA over 60 innings pitched.  Barta has yet to give up a run in 12 innings of work this fall.   First-Team All-Conference pitcher Ryan Dupic (Sr. Emmetsburg) gave up his first hit and only his second baserunner in Game 1 of the World Series on Monday.  Justin List (Sr. Granville Spalding), Christian Dekker (Fr. Urbandale), and Mark Blum have yet to give up a run in fall scrimmages.

Look for another entry after Game 2.
