BEAVERS WIN!!!

It is a great day to be a beaver.  Knocking off nationally ranked Simpson I think will give our young team a lot of confidence.  I have to admit I was almost nervous when we jumped out to an 11-2 lead.  The game was definitely a game of runs.  15 lead changes and 7 ties.  Simpson has a great ball club but down the stretch we really executed and got great shots and also got to the free-throw line.

I am so proud of our entire team but want to point out a few outstanding performances. Lindsey Meyer had a break out game going 6/7 from the field.  Schumann had a career high 23 points and was awesome down the stretch.  Tracy Hartwig came up big on the boards once again pulling down 10 rebounds for her second straight double double and a career high 7 assists.  Katie Ebel set the tone early by being very physical on defense and also had a fantastic floor game.  Five players in double figures and holding the leading scorer in the conference to 5 points proved to be a winning formula.

As we begin regular conference play we hope to keep getting better defensively.  In the second half we held Simpson to 33 points.  We were able to get stops.  When we are able to do that I think we are a very good basketball team.  I love this team and am excited to see what all they can accomplish.  They proved last night that can play with anyone in the IIAC and in the country.
