Gotta love this weather! One more baseball schedule update

You absolutely gotta love this weather!  After a miserable experience earlier this week, the coach from Dubuque and I decided to move our games back a few days.  We will now play our single 9-inning game at 3:00 pm on Sunday and our DH on Monday at 1:00 pm.  

The team will take Friday off to go home if possible, and will report back on Saturday night.  We will leave for Dubuque on Sunday morning around 8:30 am.  Our hotel reservation for the Fairfield Inn has also been moved back, and they informed me they have plenty of rooms available.

I understand the potential conflicts that this presents, but I just think we need to do everything possible to protect our players from the miserable playing conditions that we were in Wednesday.  Since there are no classes on Monday, our players will not miss class, which is the #1 priority when rescheduling weekend games.  Normally, we wouldn't be able to play weekend games past Sunday, but the league is allowing those schools that do not have class on Monday to use as a makeup date.

This spring has been an unusally tough, especially when implementing the new three-game series format.  As a group of coaches, we have to keep in mind a few things when scheduling and playing games:  1. Keep the students in class as much as possible  2. Keep the student-athletes safe.  I feel those are my two responsibilities as their coach.  

I hope this is the end of the tough decisions for the spring, but knowing our weather patterns, I doubt it.  So, stay tuned to the blog site for more updates.
