Inching Closer to Gameday
We are 9 days away
from playing our first game, and then we play 3 games in 5 days. It will be interesting to see what transpires
with our team during that stretch, as we play at St. Olaf, a Minnesota DIII
school, then play at Auguatana, a DII scholarship school, then after 2 days, we
play the Gusties from Gustavus Adolphus.
These games will all be very difficult, and quite frankly, that is the
way we want our early season schedule to look like.
I really do like our
team a lot. I know I am someone that is
usually very guarded about how I feel about my teams, but this team is my kind
of team. I am not saying that we are
awesome or going to be as good as some of the teams that we had in the early
part of this decade, but this team fits me.
I like a big physical team, with depth, and the ability to run and
pass. This team has all those
characteristics, and on top of that, we probably will play all juniors and
seniors, with the possible exceptions of Steve Gute (Carroll), Nate Parker (
Carlisle), and Sam Moser (
Like I said earlier,
there are no guarantees, that we win any of our first 3 games, and I am being
serious about that, but we will play hard, physical, and play together. It will be a lot of fun to see how well we
play, and see where our weaknesses are, and what our strengths are. But I will say this, I am very blessed with
the guys we have in our program right now.
They are quality young men, who know how to have fun, and know how
important it is to be a good teammate.
We have fun everyday together. We
will be exciting to watch.
Next week, I will
give you an update on our lineups and who will play what positions. We are getting closer to that point, but we
have one last scrimmage this week, then we will evaluate where we are.
Go Beavers!!
