wrestling certification
Certification was done on Sept 21st. This is an NCAA rule, which I believe is a bunch of paper work and time consuming nonsense. Their minimal competition weight is determined at this time, while hydrated. So wrestling is the only sport I know that tests hydration. Most athletes or general public are not properly hydrated. But wrestlers are supposed to be hydrated while getting to a competition weight class with no part of the season used for training. I say test all athletes for hydration, all students, mail men, govt employees, coaches, cheerleaders, and the rules committee who have set this thing up. The rule in its simple form is an initial assessment to determine a minimum wresting weight. So LAW-ONE: Lowest allowable weight at 5% body fat. The two steps in law one A. is to pass a urine specificity gravity test to show your body is hydrated. B. Calculate body density mostly by skin fold using calipers. The optimal performance calculator will calculate the numbers you need to know. LAW-TWO is the lowest allowable weight calculated by using 1.5% of your body weight lost per week from the initial assessment to certification no later than December 16th. The 2nd certification process, that only needs to be met by those appearing on an NCAA roster for a first time, is that they weigh in at their certified weight and pass the hydration test. The first competition after this 2nd certification process is successful establishes the competition weight for the year. All I can say to this is a sarcastic “Come on”
