Tomcat Serivce Manager
Tomcat Service Manager
October 19, 2007:
Released
2.0.0.1. Service installation now reflects classpath edits in JVM Options instead of only adding
bootstrap.jar. July 12, 2007:
Released
2.0.0. No changes over RC2. June, 25 2007:
Released
2.0.0-rc2. The main change in this release is documentation. Also a
couple minor bug fixes, and I made a couple of the GUI preferences
persistent. This probably will become 2.0.0 final unless I hear of any lingering bugs. March 15, 2007:
Released
2.0.0-rc1.
March 3, 2007:
Released
2.0.0-beta2.
February 26, 2007:
Released
2.0.0-beta1. I've done a bit more testing with various scenarios and
fixed whatever wasn't working right. There won't be any additional
functionality changes before 2.0. Everything at this point will be
focused on bug fixes and minor enhancements to existing functionality. Note:
Please see the documentation included with the download. the
documentation on this web site is currently outdated for version 2.0.
February 25, 2007: Released
2.0.0-pre3. Another Alpha release.
February 23, 2007:
Released 2.0.0-pre2. Another Alpha release.
February 22, 2007:
Released 2.0.0-pre1. Consider this an Alpha release. It works in the
limited testing I've done, but I'm sure I'll end up tweaking things as
I play around without. There are a few things that aren't in place
('About' dialog, Tomcat 6.x support, etc). There's no documentation
(yet). I'll release a pre2 Alpha sometime in the near future that
should polish things a bit more.
February 16, 2007: Updated screenshot.
There are a few tweaks needed for basic functionality, and I'm pretty
sure the CPU usage figure isn't always accurate. I may decide to lose
the process info altogether since Task Manager is pretty easy to get
to. The first release, which I'm calling 2.0-pre1, should be available
sometime this week. It won't have Help or documentation, but it should
be functional.
February 15, 2007:
The GUI for 2.0 is pretty much done, as are the mechanisms for saving
and loading configurations from file. Also, it seems to be generating
the proper commands for installing and updating the service via
Procrun. Could be about one week away from an alpha release.
February 7, 2007: 2.0 is in development. I'm hoping for an initial alpha release in the next 3-4 weeks.
This release will include the following enhancements:
- Procrun as the java service surrogate
- Simpler configuration.
- XML-based configuration storage. No more direct registry access
- Option for running Tomcat under non-system account
- More descriptive status info
- Much cleaner code
- Easier troubleshooting. Option to run in a console (via Procrun)
Future plans include:
- Support for 6.x
- A wizard for enabling/disabling assertions
